Suppliers of technically advanced real leather with unique surfaces. Viscarb leathers feature superior abrasion resistance, 98% waterproof, breathable and easy to clean.
Carbon Image Ltd are a British Company, who discovered a process whereby unique surface designs could be applied to leather, creating a range of technical and high performance leathers.
This radical approach to finishing resulted in tactile, breathable, leather, with high abrasion resistance and has been proven in high performance end uses.
For over 4 years, these leathers have been marketed worldwide by Carbon Image Ltd, under the trade name Viscarb®.
Viscarb® Leathers unique surface designs are achieved using a PU coating of less than 0.15mm thickness, ensuring that the end product is real leather. It is NOT printed, OR embossed, but uses a special patented process, which CHEMICALLY BONDS the PU to the leather.
The patented process uses high heat and vacuum to ensure a perfect bond of the PU-finish; brushing aqueous PU into the leather fibres and thereby embedding them completely, creating a mechanical as well as a chemical bond, an inseparable thin finish. At the core of the process is the generation of the surface, a process unlike any other known.
As a result of this process, two important properties are achieved; Adhesion to the split is very good, with the bond reaching into the top of the leather structure. The finish develops a micro porous structure. This means that the finish allows good water vapour permeability on the leather side, whilst giving high water repellency on the finish side.
The unique process also gives rise to some other very important properties not normally assoociated with such leathers.
Viscarb® 3D Carbon
The ultimate surface, which gives a perfect reproduction of a 2x2 Twill Carbon Fibre Fabric.
Viscarb® Diamond
If you prefer Carbon Fibre in a plain weave, then Diamond is the leather for you.
Viscarb® Dual Original
A surface resembling fine sandpaper, relaying just by its look, durability, strength and confidence.
Viscarb® Quadro
Featuring a tiny diamond shaped pattern.
Viscarb® Peak
An astonishing optical effect, with the texture of thousands of small peaks.
Viscarb® Groove
As its name suggests, this surface features grooves resembling a wooden surface.
Viscarb® 3D Carbon Car
An improved version of 3D Carbon especially for car interiors. Achieving even higher results in the following areas:
Note: The images above are magnified to show the grain/texture of the different types of leather.
We also produce a further range of surfaces which are more typically seen on standard grain leathers.
Viscarb® Jumbo | A traditional tumbled grain leather. |
Viscarb® Nubuck | Perfectly smooth surface with typically, slightly oily touch. |
Viscarb® TJKB | A medium grain leather with a good shine. |
Viscarb® Veneto | A typical medium grain leather, with a detailed full grain structure. |
Viscarb® 242 | A fine grain leather resembling haircell. |
Viscarb® Savanne | A middle grain leather. |
In order to meet the requirements of a variety of end uses, a range of thicknesses are available as follows:
0.9 - 1.1mm | 1.0 - 1.2mm |
1.1 - 1.3mm | 1.4 - 1.6mm |
1..6 - 1.8mm | 1.8 - 2.0mm |
